This was our 3rd round of auditions for the Midwest Premiere of Suzan-Lori Parks’ amazing and controversial play, FUCKING A, directed by Richard Perez. We appreciate your interest in our work and company and look forward to seeing your work and watching you grow as actors. “F*cking A” Auditions
UrbanTheater Company will be holding auditions for the Midwest Premiere of Pulitzer Prize Winner Suzan Lori Parks critically acclaimed and controversial play, F*cking A, directed by Chicago Dramatist Associate Artistic Director; Richard Perez.
Auditions will be held on Weds. August 24, at DePaul’s Theatre Building, 2135 N. Kenmore from 5 pm until 10 pm. Callbacks will be held on Tues. August 30th.
UTC seeks the following:
STRONG/EXPERIENCED NON EQUITY M/F Actors between the ages of 21 and 50. While ALL races are welcome to audition, we are especially interested in seeing actors of color. Actors must be able to sing.
Synopsis: F*cking A is a play about class, race, friendship, love and revenge. Hester, an Abortionist with the letter A branded on her chest is fueled by her love for her son and her need to revenge those who have taken him away from her. Aggressive, poignant and hopeful, Parks weaves a tale of love and revenge complete with a lyrical musical score.
Time Commitment:
Production runs March 22 through April 28th, 2012 at Chicago’s Center for the Performing Arts.
Material To Prepare:
Actors should be familiar with the script and should come prepared with one contemporary monologue of their choosing and one short song to be sung acapella. Not all actors will be asked to sing, just be prepared to do so if you are asked. Actors will be seen in ten minute intervals.
